Prime Big Deal Days local AI deals: which GPU or mini PC fits your model?
Start with the model, context and software requirement. Then compare exact capacities, complete costs and delivery against keeping hardware you own.

Prime Big Deal Days ended Oct. 7. Choose local AI hardware that fits the model before comparing current retailer asks. Keep your current machine if its usable memory already covers the weights, context and runtime. If the software requires CUDA, check an NVIDIA GPU and the PC that must power it. A 128GB Ryzen mini PC has more shared capacity than a 16GB card, but it is not a CUDA substitute or a promise of equal speed.
GPU, mini PC or Mac: which fits the model and context?
- A PC you already own: compare 16GB, 24GB and 32GB GPU routes, then check VRAM, PSU, case and driver/runtime. Match the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti; the 8GB version is a different capacity.
- A larger model in one shared memory pool: compare 128GB mini PCs and their documented limits. Memory reserved for graphics and the OS is not available for weights or cache. Exact Linux results do not transfer between boxes sharing the same processor.
- Long prompts or concurrent requests: use the model and context memory tools. The Qwen3-8B example includes a 16-bit KV-cache calculation; it is not a tokens-per-second prediction or a formula for every model.
- A Mac: separate measured LLM speeds from estimates and match its fixed memory. The $0 keep route comes first when the model already fits.
Exact alternative asks on Oct. 11
These direct-store and Newegg asks are before tax, shipping, extras and any new membership cost. They are alternatives to compare with a Prime offer, not Amazon sale prices.
| Exact configuration | Oct. 11 displayed ask | Availability and buying limit |
|---|---|---|
| GMKtec EVO-X2, Ryzen AI Max+ 395, 128GB/2TB, US | $3,649.99 | Public variant data says available, while the product page carries sold-out/unavailable option labels. Orderability and buyer-address delivery are unknown. The earlier shipment-resumption banner is absent. Its direct policy gives seven days from receipt, a 15% opened/used fee, buyer return postage and a $35 deduction for free-shipping orders; one-year warranty. Confirm the cost of testing before buying. |
| Minisforum MS-S1 Max, 128GB/2TB, US | $3,879 | Exact variant marked available and Add to cart shown. The selected 2TB variant now advertises estimated shipping in mid-October; your delivery date remains unknown. Current direct US-store purchases carry a two-year warranty and a 30-day return-request window from delivery. Return postage is normally buyer-paid; initial defects or wrong items are exceptions. The $4,159 4TB variant is a different configuration. |
| Beelink GTR9 Pro, 128GB/2TB, US | $4,349 | Preorder with approximately 35 days shown. Three-year limited warranty and 30-day return request, with good-condition and postage limits. Warranty exclusions list software modifications; confirm the intended OS installation and testing before ordering. Compare your deadline as well as the price. |
| ASUS Dual RTX 5060 Ti OC, 16GB, DUAL-RTX5060TI-O16G | $799.99 | Sold and shipped by Newegg; Add to cart shown, buyer-address delivery unknown. Three-year limited warranty and 30-day refund/replacement terms; a 15% restocking fee may apply. Check 229 mm length, 2.5-slot clearance, eight-pin power and the recommended 550W PSU. |
| Framework Desktop DIY, Max+ 395, 128GB | $3,449 before SSD | 128GB option out of stock. Add an SSD to the total; do not treat it as an obtainable saving against a ready-made 2TB PC. |
The $229.01 gap between the Minisforum and GMKtec asks is arithmetic, not a delivered saving: GMKtec orderability is unresolved. An older $6,167.10 HP/antonline ask below is historical, not a cleared alternative. The whole-PC cost worksheet keeps exact variants, terms and the $0 keep option beside the total. The existing EVO-X2 Amazon listing now selects new 128GB LPDDR5X/2TB at the same ordinary $3,649.99 ask, sold by GMKtec-US and shipped by Amazon. Its Oct. 11 page shows In Stock for Maplewood NJ 07040, 30-day refund/replacement with at least one free return option subject to exceptions, and a one-year GMKtec warranty claim from purchase. Those terms differ from the direct-store path above. Buyer-address delivery, full checkout, exact warranty entitlement and permission for intended Linux testing remain unverified. Prime delivery is advertised for that sample ZIP; a Prime member price and buyer eligibility are not verified. The headline says Radeon 8090S while the specification block says 8060S; confirm the exact GPU and plug. The existing Amazon GTR9 Pro 128GB/2TB source now says unavailable with no restock date, so its buy path is removed; Beelink’s separate direct preorder remains a dated alternative.
Read the direct GMKtec return/warranty policy, Minisforum US-store policy, and Beelink warranty and returns. Marketplace terms can differ. A listed software-modification exclusion does not establish whether the seller permits your exact Linux installation; confirm that before treating the return window as a free trial.
Historical prices: evidence to reopen, not today’s deal thresholds
A sale price is a deal only if it beats what another store charges for the same configuration. The table records the September baselines for eight machines and the $0 keep path; the current table above records the specific Oct. 11 reads, including unresolved stock and checkout terms.
Before you buy, reopen both the row’s Amazon listing and the alternative store page. Compare prices only if the alternative remains available for the same configuration and delivery terms.
| Machine and configuration | Historical comparison | Where that price was from | What to check on the listing | Exact Amazon listing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keep what you own: the model already fits | $0 | Nothing to buy | Check what your computer can run | None needed |
| GMKtec EVO-X2, 128GB/2TB | $3,649.99 | GMKtec’s store and Newegg, sold by GMKtec, Sept. 16 | 128GB and 2TB in the title; the 128GB/1TB is $3,499.99 at GMKtec | EVO-X2 128GB/2TB |
| Minisforum MS-S1 Max, 128GB/2TB | $3,799 | Minisforum’s store, Sept. 16 | 2TB, not the 4TB version | MS-S1 Max 128GB/2TB |
| Beelink GTR9 Pro, 128GB/2TB | $4,349 | Beelink’s store, Sept. 16; orders ship within 35 days | The delivery date, against Beelink’s 35 days | Amazon ASIN B0FPQQYWQ1 unavailable Oct. 11; no current buy path |
| HP Z2 Mini G1a, 128GB/1TB, Ryzen AI Max PRO 395 | $6,167.10 | antonline on Newegg, part C3XE0UT#ABA, Sept. 17 | 1TB and PRO 395, spec by spec | Z2 Mini G1a 128GB/1TB |
| ASUS Dual RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition | $799.99 | Newegg, model DUAL-RTX5060TI-O16G, Sept. 16 | 16GB, not 8GB | ASUS Dual 5060 Ti 16GB |
| Mac mini M6, 16GB/256GB | $899 | Apple’s list price, Aug. 25; $799 for education | 2026 and M6, not a 2024 M4 | M6 16GB/256GB |
| Mac mini M5 Pro 15-core, 24GB/512GB | $1,699 | Apple’s list price, Aug. 25; $1,599 for education | 15-core M5 Pro, 24GB/512GB | M5 Pro 24GB/512GB |
| Mac Studio M5 Max, 18-core CPU, 32-core GPU, 36GB/512GB | $2,499 | Apple’s starting price, Aug. 25; $2,299 for education | 32-core GPU, not 40-core | M5 Max 36GB/512GB |
The Mac rows retain Apple’s historical list prices: Apple’s U.S. store showed no price on Sept. 16, and B&H’s product page did not load. Amazon sold some standard M6 and M5 Pro minis below Apple’s list during preorders, according to MacRumors on Aug. 28 and Sept. 2 and AppleInsider on Sept. 1, so a Mac price under the historical row is not by itself evidence of an event discount. If you qualify for Apple’s education pricing, beat that figure instead.
Check the listing before the price
Ignore the struck-through price. Each store sets its own. On Sept. 16 GMKtec’s store and Newegg charged the same $3,649.99 for the same EVO-X2, measured against $3,999.99 in GMKtec’s store data and $4,999.99 on Newegg’s listing. One machine and one price show a 9% discount at one store and 27% at the other.
- Memory and storage, in the title and the spec table. These machines sell in several sizes. GMKtec’s EVO-X2 page listed 64GB/1TB, 128GB/1TB and 128GB/2TB on Sept. 16, and the 128GB mini PC guide found Ryzen AI Max+ 395 boxes in 32GB, 64GB, 96GB and 128GB versions. Compare 2TB with 2TB: Minisforum’s 4TB MS-S1 Max was $4,119, with an estimated shipping time of early October.
- Memory can’t be added later. Beelink’s store lists the GTR9 Pro’s memory as soldered, and a Mac’s memory is fixed when it is ordered. Buy the size your model needs.
- Who sells it and who ships it. A listing’s price can come from a third-party seller rather than Amazon.com. Check the sold-by and ships-from lines, and read a third-party seller’s own terms before paying.
- The Mac generation. “Apple 2026 Mac mini Desktop Computer M6 chip” and “Apple 2024 Mac mini Desktop Computer with M4 chip” differ only by year and chip. “Renewed” in a title means Amazon’s refurbished program, not a new machine. The Mac Studio in the table has the 32-core M5 Max GPU, not the 40-core version.
- The HP configuration. The HP price to beat is for part C3XE0UT#ABA, with the Ryzen AI Max PRO 395, 128GB and a 1TB SSD. Amazon’s title names that chip, memory and storage but showed us no part number, so match the specs line by line. Newegg’s own offer for the same part was $5,349.99 on Sept. 17 but out of stock; recheck its current seller, stock and delivered total before using that historical figure. Other sellers on the same Newegg listing asked $6,346.69 or more. HP’s own store on Newegg listed another Z2 Mini G1a with the same chip and 128GB, part BN8E9UA#ABA, at $4,599 on Sept. 17 but didn’t list its storage; check it before paying more for the 1TB part.
- The card’s memory. The RTX 5060 Ti also comes with 8GB. If the brand doesn’t matter, the lowest new 16GB card in Newegg’s price-sorted results on Sept. 16 was an MSI board at $779.99.
- The ship date. Beelink’s own store said orders ship within 35 days. A listing that delivers sooner may be worth more to you than a small price gap.
After Prime Big Deal Days: buy, wait or keep?
Hard Bargains makes no forecast of sale prices. Amazon’s announcement promises deals in more than 35 categories and names no computer, graphics card or maker. What is known:
- The announced 48-hour Prime member sale ran from 12:01 a.m. PDT on Oct. 6 through Oct. 7 and has ended. Do not treat those dates as a current buying deadline. Amazon lists Prime at $14.99 a month or $139 a year, with a free 30-day trial. If you would join only for this sale and the trial isn’t open to you, add $14.99 to the sale price before comparing it with the row.
- Do not use an old countdown as a deadline. GMKtec’s Sept. 16 price-rise banner was not present in the Oct. 4 page we read. The Oct. 7 page no longer displays the earlier shipment-resumption banner. The exact order’s stock and delivery remain unconfirmed.
- Memory isn’t getting cheaper soon. Most forecasts keep DRAM supply tight through 2027, with relief between late 2027 and 2028; when the RAM shortage ends sets them out by source. Every machine in the table comes with a fixed amount of memory.
Buy when the model, runtime, delivered total, seller and delivery date fit your work. Wait when a required capability or order term remains unknown. A countdown is not a reason to replace hardware that already works.
A lower price still isn't a deal if
- The model already fits what you own. Checking costs $0: find your machine’s usable memory.
- You need CUDA or fast prompt processing. Prompt processing is the weak side of the 128GB Ryzen AI Max+ 395 boxes, and they can’t run CUDA-only tools. The GPU guide matches models to 16GB, 24GB and 32GB cards, new and used.
- You’d use it a few hours a month. At the $3,649.99 EVO-X2 price spread over 36 months, buying beats renting a memory-matched 96GB card only past about 60 hours a month at the community rate, on our break-even arithmetic. The hours scale with the price, so a 10% discount brings that to about 54.
For the full comparisons, see which 128GB Ryzen AI Max+ 395 mini PC to buy and where to buy a new Mac mini, by configuration. The Framework Desktop is not in the table because it has no Amazon route we can recommend; Framework’s store, showed the 128GB system at $3,449 and out of stock on Sept. 16.
Recheck each source and the exact listing before relying on a row. An Amazon listing that no longer matches its configuration should not be used for a buying decision.
Sources and dates
- Direct and Newegg exact alternatives reread Oct. 11, 2026 have unchanged asks and limits.
- Existing EVO-X2 Amazon source now shows selected new 128GB/2TB at $3,649.99 from GMKtec-US, shipped by Amazon, with sample-location stock and 30-day returns;
- GPU title/specification conflict and checkout/eligibility/warranty limits remain.
- Amazon GTR9 Pro is unavailable; its buy link removed.
- Direct GMKtec stock conflicts, Minisforum mid-October estimate, Beelink approximately 35-day preorder and Framework 128GB out of stock remain.
- Prime event ended.
- Linux and September evidence retain their dates.
